No. A door is only necessary if you want to fill the tub almost completely. For everyday showering an entry is the better choice — the wider, the better. After the installation the lower part of the tub still works as a shallow basin, so in some cases you can fill up to 20 cm of water: the lower edge of the entry is never right at the bottom of the tub.
The entry lets you partly fill the tub, up to the lower edge of the entry — usually 15–20 cm of water. Showering is exactly the same with both.
